Radical Transformational leadership program is a core part of Thamarai.The RTL program has been created by Dr. Monica Sharma, former director of leadership and capacity with the UN. This program is for everybody, children, youth and adults. The tools of RTL supports us to source our inner potential and to see ourselves as agents of change at home, work and in community. The RTL program builds agency and supports us to design and implement projects for value based sustainable solutions to everyday problems.
We engage with this program continually in our everyday practice and are involved in annually hosting programs in both English and Tamil in Auroville, the bio region around and online. RTL has supported our team immensely to grow and develop, both at individual level and as an organisation. It continually reminds us to design from universal values and to stretch to our full potential.
Four of our team are currently training as practitioner coaches with Srilatha Juvva and all core team members have worked directly with Dr. Monica Sharma.
Our students completed a year long RTL and film making program where the children identified what they cared about and what they wanted to change in their lives and communities. They came up with great projects such as building awareness on waste management, saving water and trees, developing a library, sports, peace and harmony, health and hygiene.
The children were active partners in the design and implementation when we built out new Learning center with surrounding gardens and sports area, using the frame of RTL this development became a beautiful learning in action program.

Our team are in practice group and have individual projects that they are working on in areas that they care about and want to manifest a change in.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Monica Sharma for access to this life changing program and to Srilatha Juvva for her mentoring and coaching our team to be practitioner coaches in Tamil to take this work to our students and the bio region around Auroville.
The program covers sourcing inner potential, shifting unworkable patterns/norms and values based design for implementation change through self reflective processes, design and implementation tools and tools for practicing value based processes.
