A trip with the children to the beautiful Svaram sound garden and a subsequent meeting with musical sound bath therapist Anne Riquer, who shared her wish to bring sound bath therapy to children in rural village, set us on a rich immersion in weekly Saturday evening sound bath journeys since July for the children, (especially those with attention challenges), with a dedicated team of Svaram trained musicians. It has been a magical adventure of sound that the children share is like being in the middle of a tropical forest or windy dry desert and much more.
This has further opened the opportunity of a research project, starting in January 2026, led by Ann and an international team that brings the fields of neuroscience and sound therapy together to enhance the wellbeing of the children. The resonant sounds, delivered through instruments like singing bowls, affect brain activity and cellular function, reducing anxiety, improving mood, concentration and enhancing mindfulness, with previous studies elsewhere showing measurable decreases in tension and depression. We look forward to sharing findings in coming newsletters.
