Manu Bahuguna has brought his skills of commercial filmmaking to support youth with career opportunities beyond convention with a film making and communications course with the aims of 1) providing life-skills to young people to take-up film making as a profession or use it as an additional skill in their careers and lives and 2) to help Thamarai’s students and staff to create films inhouse to communicate with the larger Thamarai community.
The program includes:
Finding, identifying and developing a story
Capturing the Video & Audio
Understanding the tools and options
Editing to form a visual-narrative
Promoting the film.
Ilam has taken a gap year from school to explore more ways of learning. He has come to Thamarai and is currently doing a Filming making course with Manu and English literacy and Canva design with Sarah. Ilam shares that “I feel excited to have begun the film making program. I am getting to know about different cameras and ways of taking films. Manu is my teacher and has suggested that the first project I do is to film the local pottery unit that is next to Thamarai”. I have just finished the Leadership for Life program, it was a great experience and I am now an officer for India’s first Foroige youth club. I have happiness inside and I feel I have a new family with Thamarai and Brian. |
