We also continue with our quarterly visits for basic medical and special needs evaluation of the PIMS Paediatric team and Child Guidance & Rehabilitation Unit (with psychologist Dr Shanthi), led by Dr Peter. Our last evaluation day on 13 October was a great success, seeing 50 students, of which almost all had their parent/s attend with them! The main aspects of concern identified were long-standing under/malnourishment and underweight status, signs of developmental/ learning delays and difficulties, challenges related to symptoms of possible neurodivergency (poor attention/ high distractibility, impulsivity/ hyperactivity), and other behavioural challenges etc.
The PIMS Paediatric team have invited our parents to attend for a full health and developmental assessment of their child/ren at the hospital campus without fees (via a letter of introduction from Thamarai). And while we continue to encourage parents to follow up on this offer, in the meantime we will again begin to plan for the next quarterly evaluation day with the PIMS outreach team at our Centre in Annai Nagar for January 2025. |
